Apple cider vinegar is basically spiked apple juice. It contains acetic acids.
- Control Pathogens – Consuming acid actually lowers the pathogens in the body, which helps control the overgrowth of certain microbes. This is especially helpful for a condition called SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), where bacteria grow in the wrong place—specifically in the small intestine instead of the large intestine. If your stomach pH is not strong enough, you can develop this condition. Taking apple cider vinegar can help create a condition where the microbes cannot thrive in the small intestine.
- Digestion – It speeds up digestion by activating enzymes. Many enzymes in the stomach, pancreas, and other places in the body are dormant, and it takes certain things to activate them. Acid is one of the activators of the enzymes in the stomach, which helps break down protein and speeds up digestion.
- Absorb Minerals – Calcium, magnesium, and iron all need a certain pH to be absorbed. If the pH in your stomach is too alkaline, you won’t absorb as many minerals. Vitamins K, C, and B12 also need this acid to be absorbed.
- Decrease Gas – Apple cider vinegar speeds up the breakdown of food, leading to more complete digestion. One of the causes of gas is incomplete protein digestion.
- Blood Sugar Improvement – Apple cider vinegar can help make glucose more sensitive, reducing insulin resistance and thereby decreasing the amount of insulin produced. This can directly cause weight loss. Vinegar helps you lose weight and also helps lower cholesterol. When you reduce insulin, you lower cholesterol, which can also help with blood pressure related to high levels of insulin.
There are many benefits of apple cider vinegar; take between one and two tablespoons daily.
