Are you physically fit or not?

Being fit doesn’t mean being free from diseases. Physical fitness is much more than that. Do you think of yourself as physically fit?

You can use the following points to determine:

  1. Can you silently endure feelings of hunger? Does everything seem blank when you are hungry? Do you get irritated if food is not served on time? The ability to endure the pangs of hunger is indeed a superhuman quality, but if you make a little effort, you too can attain this quality. Fasting is an effective way to train your body. Fasting for a day or two per week can make you mentally and physically alert and active.

2. Does lack of sleep for a day or two make you fall sick? Early sleep and rising early have no alternative. But important things may come up and the cycle may break, such as studying late at night for exams and working late for the office. If this makes you feel discomfort in the body, it means you have to pay attention to your fitness level.

3. How long can you work continuously? Another essential measure of physical fitness is the ability to work continuously and tirelessly for hours.

4. Do you often feel tired and drowsy? Often feeling tired or drowsy is the number one indicator of being physically unfit. One of the main reasons for this is lack of deep sleep at night and poor food habits. Staying up late watching mobile/TV/laptop screens does not allow us to have proper sleep because the blue radiation from these devices prevents us from getting deep sleep. Also, eating too much sugar disturbs sleep because it hampers the production of orexin, which helps us stay awake. Hence, eating sugar results in sleepiness and tiredness.

5. Do you often get sick? People who spend most of the year suffering from fever, cold, cough, etc., are not hard to find. If your body’s immunity is weak, then you are more likely to fall sick very easily. Weak immunity is a major indicator of the lack of physical fitness. As per specialists, if a person suffers from a cold three times a year, and it takes longer to cure than normally expected, then their immunity is very weak. On the other hand, as per the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, if a person has to take antibiotics twice a year or if a minor bacterial attack results in severe symptoms, then the person is suffering from a weak immune system.

Now that you have learned the indicators, determine your fitness level.
